There are some things that you can learn from the dumbEST things, especially when they come from a smart, educated, and respected person.

That is what happened when I interviewed with the CEO of an online marketing firm and learned that he would not be the first to tell you that you need to know how to properly use your communication skills in order to become successful.

After my interview with him, I felt that I needed to share my experience with other aspiring leaders.

The result of my research was the best advice I have ever heard, as I went on to become the CEO at an online communications company.

And I am not alone.

For the last few months, I have been receiving dozens of calls from aspiring leaders across the country, asking the same question: How can I be more effective at communicating with my audience?

This article will provide a comprehensive guide on how to be a better communicator.

It has not only helped me improve my communication skills, but it has helped me build a network of connections that is far stronger than I ever imagined.

If I had to list the 10 most important communication skills I have, it would probably be: Listen to your audience.

Your audience is the people who you will be working with for the next five years.

I was fortunate enough to work with an amazing person who had been at the top of her field for over 30 years, and she told me that she was constantly on the lookout for a new challenge that she could join.

If your audience is going to be the person who will be the most influential to you in the next decade, you need that person to be listening to them.

The only way to make the conversation easier is to ask questions that are relevant to the question being asked.

Listen carefully.

If it is a question that you are struggling with, you should be listening.

If there is an answer to the issue, be patient.

When you do this, you are likely to come up with an answer that you will enjoy reading and learning from.

If not, just write it down.

Listen with interest.

As a leader, you will need to listen to your own audience.

Asking questions that you know your audience likes to ask can be a great way to get them excited about what you are saying.

If they are asking a question, they will probably be more likely to respond, so it is important to listen attentively to what they are saying in order for you to be successful.

Do not assume that you have all the answers.

It is very easy to get distracted by all the great questions people are asking you.

Take a deep breath and look at the question.

Are you really going to say no to them?

Are you going to try to convince them that you actually do understand what they want to know?

If you are, then you needn’t worry about it.

The best way to become an effective communicator is to understand your audience and their concerns.

I also recommend that you focus on the things that are important to you.

Are there things that will make your job easier?

Are there opportunities that you could take advantage of?

Are the things you are learning about the people you are meeting important for your job?

If so, then the more you can get away from your audience, the more valuable they will be to you and the more effective you will become as a communicator and leader.

Be consistent.

Communication is not just about being effective in a given moment, it is also about being consistent in what you say and how you say it.

If people start asking questions that seem to conflict with what you just said, you might be doing something wrong.

Do you want to waste time asking questions they might not understand?

If your company is hiring for a senior role, for example, it might be important to have your own unique personality and be consistent in your communication style to ensure that the candidate you are hiring understands the role you are trying to fill.

The most important thing is that you do not overdo it.

Communication skills are not about how many times you can say something, it’s about how well you know how and can deliver what you want.
