Google’s high-profile investment in the company that makes Google Voice, its online voice-over-IP service, has made a splash in the media.
Google announced the announcement on its blog, announcing the $100 million investment in a smartphone manufacturer that produces high-quality handsets for Google’s voice-enabled messaging service, Google Hangouts.
Google said the investment would allow the company to build more high-speed phones, improve the quality of its voice technology and improve its voice-to-text technology.
The new high-tech handsets will be manufactured by Motorola, a company that Google has acquired from Motorola Mobility in a $3.2 billion deal last year.
Motorola is also developing a line of smart phones that will use Google’s new voice-based voice recognition technology.
Google is also exploring partnerships with other handset manufacturers.
Google said it has a deep love for Motorola, its phone maker, and is looking to acquire Motorola for $2 billion.
The Google acquisition will allow Google to add more voice-activated services to its online services, and to accelerate its efforts to build an integrated messaging and video platform.
Google’s Hangouts service, which is available on more than 400 million Android phones, has been a huge hit with consumers.
Google Voice is available as a standalone service and is a free service to Google users.
